Iwaki-Shi, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan

It's almost 3 months after the earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan, life in downtown Iwaki has slowly returned to ' normal '... running water, electricity, most of the supermarkets were open filled with stocks of foods, no more cars lining up too long when filling up a gasoline, damaged roads were done and etc. BUT not at the disaster striken area on the coastal area in Iwaki. The ruins remained untouched since the earthquake and tsunami.... Coastal area in Iwaki is 20 minutes away from us and everytime we passed by to the place, there is this something that grips my heart~ it looks like we're in a different world.別世界です。。。

We wanted to feel and see with our own eyes most especially to Wakaba and Haruka although it would be shocking for them but we want them to understand of what's happening and think about the devastated area that was striken a tsunami. We went to Ena, Toyoma and Onahama ~ we stopped and walked around the area. I couldn't explain how I felt, the scenery has changed...The area surrounding us was overwhelming in it's devastation. A minute or so, we're all speechless...

This is the scenery at the coastal area in Iwaki when the tsunami strikes the area
Clearing the road
7-11 convenient store in Toyoma operating and open despite of the store's damage I almost cried to have seen the damage
Some of the few items sold were all placed inside 7-11's truck
頭が下がります。がんばろう!!
Abandoned and ripped house Speechless Photos washed away by the tsunami

Onahama

Someone's car, washed away by the tsunami

Ena

Collapsed

Damaged bridge

Almost 3 months after the disaster but it still looked like that at Ena
Scenery at Toyoma

Naku mommy Clang, I still cry when I see such photos huhu. It still feels painful kahit na I've never been to Japan. I was at my favorite Jap store the other day and I was talking to the cashier, (she always talks Japanese with me) and I asked her how's everything pareho na kami naluha kahit ok naman ang family nya.

Di bale, in time everything will be fixed, if not then this will always ba painful sight for us, to remember those who died in the sea and pray that later on they'd wake up (John 5:28, Revelation 20:13)

Wahhh pati ako naiiyak dito, it's really devastating to see the ruin caused by the tsunami and earthquake. It made me remember when our place in Donsol was washed away by tidal waves some 15 years ago. Walang naira sa amin but the clothes in our bodies but come to think of it, were still lucky that we survived. God bless you guys! Glad to have you back Clang. Okay ka na ba?

speechless din ako sis...ask ko lng how was the radiation level in that area?

i think it should be ok for haruka & wakaba to see the effects of the disaster, for them to be aware of such natural calamities.

take care always, tokayo

What a contrast between the first picture you posted showing the serene and peaceful atmosphere in Fukushima and the site of the tragic calamity that struck the coastal area of Iwaki. The different pictures of destruction and devastation in Iwaki become a silent testimony to that eventful day that no Japanese will ever forget. The Lord has spoken to the Japanese people and He is now rebuilding Japan to regain its lost glory once more. Let us all pray for the healing of the Japanese people's hearts and the strength and courage to rebuild their shattered dreams. I am still praying for you and your family and all our Pinay friends there as well as all of Japan. Thanks for the poignant post. God bless you all always.

Looking at those photos gives me a goosebumps already. I almost cry when i saw those pictures in the box, bec I'm sure those belong to a family and it's a part of their memory that was washed away.

Thanks for sharing these pics! Despite the earthquake hitting Japan during my visit there, I'm still missing the country terribly. Are you still experiencing aftershocks?

It's good to know that life is slowly back to normal. But still I'm sure the tragedy will continue to live on the memories of those affected....I pray that people in your city will hold on to God as their anchor that cannot be shaken and that in their distress and despair, they will find hope in God. I'm impress on how the Japanese find inner strength. They didn't seem to panic outwardly. May God's presence comfort them when that tragic memory haunts them.
We continually praise God for sparing your family.

Blessings!

So hard to see all of these destruction. Some parts of Indonesia have ever been got earthquake and tsunami too. It's not easy to be able to back to normal life, after those big loss...

Thanks for dropping by, take care and be strong...

ang bigat sa dibdib tingnan...okay lang yang gamit na nasisira or nawawala, wag lang yang mahal mo sa buhay. kasi ang gamit ay naibablik pero ang buhay ay hindi.

Thanks for the Durian comment Clarriz.
