Couple's Corner--Bed Time Habit

Our bed time habit always starts a warm ofuro ( Japanese bath ) before going to sleep for deep relaxation and a scented bath powder is added to relieve stress while it can take care of your body and skin at the same time. When we had our vacation in the Philippines, I asked my husband of what is the first thing he would do the time we come back to Japan and he told me is to have a warm bathe ofuro!^_^
I should be tucking the kids to our Japanese futon and read them some books then put them to sleep at 9PM is the next thing. And when the kids are all asleep, I love pulling out some beer for Yochan and me during weekends. We shared a futon and we don't have bed here ( we're living in an apartment remember?lol! )We usually have talks all the time while enjoying body contact. My husband loves to hide my fave pillow and he's annoying for sometimes coz there was a time that I was looking for it for 15 minutes in every corner of the apartment but he hide 'em the least expected-- at the veranda!!! And was hanged!! And when I found it, he just laugh, laugh and laugh the hell out of it!!
Well anyway, we go to sleep at the same time and I love to make "patong" my legs to my husband (most especially if my feet is freezing cold) to warm them up and embrace him and steal his warmth lol! My husband says I snore like a hippo but what the heck! It is me who falls asleep ahead of him and I won't be hearing anything if he snores too lol! \(^0^)/

Wakaba' s Study Desk

Our weekend was busy and exhausted but excited and happy! I've been turning upside down the kid's room and putting out some "trash" and setting aside some things that are not usually used and because we're living in an apartment, we have to use properly the space or else we'll find ourselves sleeping outside the apartment instead at the bedroom after Wakaba's study desk is delivered lol! Well, that's really a common problem if you're living in an apartment, no enough storage to keep your stuffs and all but we have to put things in order for better use and decided to dispose unnessary things. Although it breaks my heart, I sold my fave anime figure collections and my husband sold some of his manga (anime comics )at the nearest recycle shop. ( He's so madaya, he didn't let go of his collectable cars--mas mahal daw yung sa kanya. Hmmmpph!)
Wakaba's desk for studying was finally shipped to us as scheduled last Sunday( and that's the main reason we are disposing unnecessary things for space) we decided to place the desk at the kid's room at first but we changed the location and placed them at the living room instead so we can easily monitor her if she needs our help. And of course, no TV for distractions during study hours.
Wakaba's study desk is made of hardwood and it's a combo kinda desk, the so-called "kumiawase" ( that could easily be arranged, transformed and very functional, too ). It has a shelves within reach and drawers under the seat for storage and other stuffs for studying. The study desk light is adjustable and the chair is light. It is simple and yet comfortable desk for Wakaba. If she decided to have her own private study place, we can now easily transfer them to the kid's room adding another school desk for Haruka two years after. Whew! Time flies so soon!! Wakaba is graduating in Kindergarten on March 20! Is she ready to go as a First Grader?? I bet she is!! ^_^

Food Trip Friday--Ebi Fry ( Deep Fried Breaded Prawn)

---Ebi Fry---

While my brother pampered my hungry stomach full of pinoy foods during our vacation in the Philippines, I thought of doing the works in the kitchen even for just one day lol! Maybe they won't let us stay there anymore in the next few years for a visit lol! My brother and I went to the public market or the so-called tiangge ( palengke )where we bought 2 kilos bigger prawns
for the Ebi Fry for dinner, the others are for grilling and gambas for our pulutan during the night. Some Ebi Fry lovers puts sauces on them but a simple homemade tartar sauce can also be perfect accompaniment to shrimps or seafoods. Just boil some eggs, peel the boiled eggs, chop the boiled egg and put them in a bowl, add mayonaise then salt and peper to taste. You can add parsley on top if you want to. I only made on what's in the kitchen for the simplier tartar sauce.
You may add pickles and onions for the tartar sauce if you want more. Enjoy!
---you can also "double dip" some eggs and panko to "double the size" of the prawn. after the 1st dipping of flour, egg then panko, dip again the breaded shrimp to egg and panko---
---fresh from the wet market (tiangge)--

Ebi Fry Ingredients:

15 Large Shrimps
1 cup Panko ( japanese bread crumbs )
1/2 cup Flour
2 Eggs
Oil for deep frying

How To Make The Ebi Fry:

1: Peel the shrimp and make a incisions on the stomach side so that it stays straight
2: Put flour on shrimp lighty
3: Dip the shrimp in beaten egg
4: Cover the shrimp with panko
5: Deep fry shrimps in a 170 degree C until brown
6: Drain and set aside
7: Arrange platter and serve while still hot.

Mommy Moments--Cars and Kids

Our car is a part of our family---we love going out with it, may it be a short or long drives and of course, our best friend. And even when my husband is out for his car race practices during his free time, we're always at the grandstand watching him doing some hot laps. And everytime the CL7 Honda owners club has touring or something, we' re also there. You might think that the kids are bored during long hours of drive or being tagged along to see their Daddy race but they're not. They' re enjoying and even cheering for their Dad at the grandstand! Sometimes you' ll hear Wakaba say " Daddy is getting his speed down! " LOL! You can read our Enjoy HONDA adventures here.

---My kids and their Daddy at Sugo Circuit------Haruka and Wakaba watching at the grandstand------this is the usual scene if my husband races, all the stuff inside the car is out including the child seats---

---My very best shot of my racer husband !--- ---trying to climb on the pit wall---
---Mom should have at least one pic lol!---
---Wakaba, peacefully sleeping even on a long hour of drive-----Haruka, however stays awake during the drives and loves to listen to her favorite anime songs---
---A friendly reminder: PLEASE FASTEN YOUR SEATBELTS!! Baby/child car seats are important to keep your baby safe. Please strapped your baby on a car seat that is properly attached to prevent any injuries during car accidents.---

Couple's Corner--When We Cuddle

When we cuddle, I feel blissfully happy. We' re a huggy couple--- I would grab him and wrap my arms around him (blush). Sometimes when I' m doing the dirty dishes in the kitchen, he'll surprise me a hug from the back and whisper sweet nothings that makes me blush. And when you don't have anything to say anymore, my husband keeps the conversation alive and end up talking and cuddling the whole day. I'm aware of my kids that is very, very jealoused when we cuddle and everytime they caught us bonding, they keep us separate from each other and them, end up cuddling with their Daddy lol! We love it when Wakaba and Haruka take an active part in keeping the fire glow in our marriage. ^_^

Food Trip Friday--Hina Matsuri

Hinamatsuri is a Japanese Doll Festival--March 3 is a day to celebrate for a girl' s healthy development and happiness here in Japan. The focus of the event is the annual display of Hina Dolls and it is also in the tradition to keep them right away coz there is a superstious belief that if Hina Dolls isn't taken down right after the festival, the girls might have to wait to get married. And another traditional Japanese belief is that by touching the dolls all the illness and bad lucks will be transfered to them.
Hina Matsuri is my girls day and so I made their request to celebrate the festival just like last year , this time I baked a Strawberry Short Cake, Chirashi zushi ( a sushi rice flavored with toppings ), Fried Chicken, French Fries, Jellyfish salad, and a simple miso soup ( photo not included coz they gobble the food right away if it is served already lol!)

---Chirashi zushi---
---Hina Matsuri Feasts---
---Wakaba and Haruka---
---Another homemade cake for my girls, I guess I made it perfectly! \(^0^)/
---My girls helped me with the cake decorations with my support------Frozen blueberries, I got those last summer during our picking harvest at my PIL's farm---

---Yours truly, preparing for my girls homemade cake. Thanks to my husband for coming home early!---

Hina Matsuri is a traditional custom in Japan that strengthens bond within each family. I'm honoured to be able to experience their custom and glad to share the Japanese culture to all of you.
