Food Trip Friday---Sisig

I owe Kaye of the BeautyQueenGene (please check out her chic blog designs at WAHMaholic Blog Designs, too) for the recipe of sisig which I have been dying to cook for. She's a heavent sent to me! Some of the ingredients are not available here so I used pork offal, chicken cartillage ( that is finely chopped ) and pork belly instead and it went well. Thank you dear K!! The best talaga to as pulutan!! Sisig are best with beer but it went well with white wine, too ( I guess it's just me lol ) ^_^
If you want to cook sisig the original way, here's the recipe of Kaye's father. Try 'em!

INGREDIENTS:

1kilo maskara (mukha ng baboy)
1/4 kilo liver (or liver spread)
1/4 kilo utak (optional)
3 cloves bawang
1/2 kilo sibuyas
1/4 kilo chili fingers (sibuyas na panigang/green)
1 tbsp. seasoning (maggi or knorr or kung anong available)
1/4 cup soy sauce
cooking oil

HOW TO:

1.boil pork face/maskara until tender. drain then fry until crunchy.
2.tadtarin yung pork face then set aside
3.chop bawang sibuyas liver into fine pieces
4.slice chili fingers pa-slant thinly.
5.igisa ang bawang. when golden brown, lagay n ung maskara at liver.
6.saute for a couple of minutes then ilagay ang sili.saute for another couple of minutes
7.ilagay ang soy sauce & seasoning.
8.ilagay ang sibuyas.
9.saute until sibuyas is cooked.
10.serve hot. top with an egg or mayonnaise.

An entry for Food Trip Friday. Chibugan na!!\(^0^)/

Hi cCarissa,
This is my first visit and I feel at home already. I like the look and the feel of your blog so I signed up to follow. Looking forward to do more visits in the future.

I've been wanting to try sisig but I'm not a pork- eater. Do you think I can have sisig without using pork?

Blessings!

Masarap nga yang sisig hindi lang pang pulutan kundi pati pang ulam din. Wala sigurong hindi makakagusto nang sisig lalo na kung original yung recipe. The best sisig in town is still in Pampanga especially in Angeles. Thanks for the yummy post. God bless you all always.

I've been pretty busy lately preparing for Christmas--ordered online a Christmas cake from Repaco Garden, waiting to be delivered on the eve, then done shopping (for my kids and pamangkins in the Phils), our lil Christmas tree was up with the help of my kids, Christmas greeting cards were sent and New Year postcards ready. My kids is now on school break--Haruka had a chicken pox a week before her last day at school and was at home since then, (she's fine now, by the way). Wakaba is busy doing her homework even though she's on school break( Japan school leaves homework to students to be done before the class resume) to be finished coz their Grandparents promised that they will pick the kids up for a sleep-over their home till the New Year (minus us)---they will go early to their Granny's place then me and hubby have to do some general cleaning of our apartment before celebrating our New Year with them. If Wakaba finished her assignments early (they're not as plenty unlike her homework on summer ), me and Yochan might then celebrate his birthday on the 30th without the kids^_^

Well anyway, I can't publish a post on my own blog that's why I have to leave an update to my friends here--I dunno what's happening but hope to fix 'em up before having a blog leave.

It is just a few days away to wish everybody a Merry Christmas! May the good Lord bless you with all the happiness and success that you deserve!^_^
