Food Trip Friday--Bento For My FIL

Veggie Stirfry, Rolled PorkTeriyaki, Tamago Yaki, Pickles, Rice sprinkled with Furikake ( rice seasoning )

My MIL has been in and out from the hospital since she had a car accident of last year--we were hoping her fastest recovery but she cannot walk really well unlike before. It is hard for her anymore to do chores at home that's why we see to it to visit them every weekend and do the household chores for them. During our stay there last weekend, I decided to prepare homemade bento for my FIL to eat for lunch at his work coz I guess he's not been eating "real food " since my MIL can't prepare anything "much" for him anymore. I cooked something for them before we left Monday morning and all they have to do is nuke the food ready to eat for dinner.

Nostalgia---Wakaba's First Letter

Packing bento for Wakaba since toddler, being a kindergartner, was the best way to get her interested in lunch and now she's a gradeschooler and still prepare bentou to eat for lunch whenever she needs them at school. She was a picky eater before but after I started making simple bentos for her, she started to eat everything in her lunch box everyday. As a mother, I feel so very happy when she comes home from school with an empty lunch box. I was checking her lunchbox one day, it came with a red lovely heart-shaped origami with a message that goes like this:

ままへ

きょうの おべんと おいしかったよ。

わかば より

Dear Mama,

Today's bento is so yummy.

From Wakaba

Wakaba totally melted my heart! She's such a sweetheart!^_^

Isn't it so much fun to go back and just yank them all out and just sit there and reminisce? ^_^

Couple's Corner--I Will Do It Tomorrow

Although I'm a less busy at home when my kids are at school and my husband at work, there are times when neverending tasks are to be done....but I will do it tomorrow! I dunno why but sometimes I don't like cleaning the bathroom everyday ( walls but cleans the bath tub everyday ) and my husband is annoyed about it. He would ask me first if it's cleaned and if my answer is 'no' he would ask why then my answer is " We won't die even if I don't clean the bathroom for a day--I' ll do it tomorrow". It's maybe because I knew that he would do the cleaning for me ( even if he complains but still do them lol ).
My husband however is a perfectionist and is always sticking to his plan and all. Yochan always asked me " Why put off till tomorrow what you can do for today?" Me: " tinamad ako eh" Him: "Palagi ka namang ganyan eh. Kaya ka nga tumataba! blah, blah, blah....( while brushing the bathroom's wall lol )

The GAP Generation

Last weekend was a shopping day for my kids autumn gears at Fashion Cruise, New Port Hitachinaka .Well, it's a fashion mall here in Japan that has The GAP Generation Store ( newest member of the GAP family) nearest us--2 and a half hours from our place. We purchased 4 articles of clothing for them and 2 hoodies for me and my husband. I guess my kids must have sprouted like vines! I was hoping that most of the clothes that I bought my kids last year a bit bigger would fit them this year. I've been picking up clothes here and there from malls most especially on good bargains and on clearance sale.
I do love shopping for my kids but how I wish we have GAP stores near us--I love their cool styles and super comfy to wear too.
We had a really good weekend, kind of crazy, busy but fun ^_^

Nostalgia---Event Companion Girls

I love being a tag-along of my husband most especially on car show exhibitions and what attracts my attention are these young and beautiful event companion girls who dances, sings, do a talk show and pose for photos. Some nerdographers was going nuts taking gazillion close-up shots of them! I dunno why hot girls and hot cars is always a package-deal lol! Well anyway, this is for entertainment so watch on ^_^

Isn't it so much fun to go back and just yank them all out and just sit there and reminisce? ^_^

Haruka's Undokai

Haruka's first Undokai or Sport's Day was somehow sad coz their Daddy is on the job but the truth is he was supposedly off on the said event ( he asked for a day-off weeks ago ) but he received an emergency call in the evening before the undokai so he has to work halfday to be able to attend even for the last minute knowing that the undokai will end after lunch. Secondly, my PIL wasn't able to attend coz my MIL is still in the hospital for the nth time(T_T) however, she did call to give Haruka some boost and encouragement.
This is my 3rd year to observe Undokai or Sport's Festival of my kids. First was Wakaba's First Undokai in Kindergarten, then Wakaba's 2nd undokai , and Wakaba's Sport's Day at Primary School and now it's Haruka's turn! How time flies!!! Well, anyway I prepared some homemade bentou requested by Haruka for us to take for lunch. We went at school right in time and enjoyed ourselves and had a great time. Haruka participated most of the game and she loves it most especially the parent-daughter/son tandem game. It's a lot of fun to participate games with my kid! The game includes tug-of-war, tama ire ( where the kids had to shoot some balls into the basket ), relay races and pass the button relay and a somewhat ' finding ' or 'hunting race' . The kids picked up cards that had things they had to find then they bring to the finish line. Wakaba and some first graders also participated games like pan kui where the kids must grab a piece of bread hanging without using their hands. They were given notebooks as prize for particpating the game, Haruka and the kindergarteners were given a medal.
All in all, it was a success except for some occassional rain and I'm looking forward to next year's undokai--this time with their Daddy and Grandparents. ^_^
Homemade bentou requested by Haruka: Nikumaki Onigiri ( rice wrapped with seasoned beef )
